Fifty Three / Karma(?)

On The Star newspaper yesterday, around 30 medical students from Universiti Sains Malaysia were reported to have lose interest in their studies, and they plan to quit after being brainwashed by a Buddhist monk during their visit to Thailand last August.

And most of them are JPA sponsored. I don't get it. How pain is someone's Karma and how that karma should just happen and not be interfered by any form medicine. It sounds funny, really. I mean, medicine is medicine for a reason.

To heal.

I don't really believe in Karma, but I do believe in fate. Everything that happens to you in this world, physically, mentally or emotionally is a form of payment, cash by God. Things happen as a result of what your two hands wrought previously. Really.

I don't want to disregard any beliefs, but when someone is sick, it shouldn't be ignored. We have the proper medication and we can make it better. It should definitely be treated. Pain is very subjective. We can't really measure pain, can we.

So is Karma measurable?

I really don't know. I've had my fair share of pain too. But when I get sick, medically or not, I would like to be treated. Not ignored.

I hope those students will think things through, and they should stay and finish their education and be doctorsssss and heal people!
