Forty Two / It's That Time

Of the year already! We are officially ONE day away from Eid and as usual, my family and I are busy getting things ready in time. We have finished decorating the living room and the dining room. The house is rose-scented! I love this annual family ritual we have every Ramadhan.

Every year, my siblings and I will take one day out from the last week of Ramadhan and go to One Utama to shop, and breakfast there. Just the five of us. Iman, Ah Meng, Adik and Baby will follow me around and get our last minute stuff like shoes, paper cups and plate for our open house every first of Eid. After that, my sisters (Adik and I) will go to our favourite bakery shop and get our things there while my brothers will go wander around looking at hot girls.

On the last day of Ramadhan, all of us will be at our busiest. In the morning, the girls will help Mama filling up the beras im the kelongsong ketupat while Uwan and Kak Siah will start doing the Rendang. Iman and Muhammad will help the father lit the fire and preheat the kawah for the rendang and ketupat.

Once we're done with all those, Adik will bake her cookies and I will bake my must-have Red Velvet. Baby will help everyone here and there.

Malam Raya, we would be very buy preparing food for our Takbir Raya (where the masjid people go to your house and recite takbir together) guests.

Mom and I will end up watching some sad ass Raya Cerekarama and we'll end up crying. And laugh. Because we cried. Haha.

This tradition has been going on for as long as forever. Since I was born. I don't know if I can ever live without this family thing I do every year with them.

Because I will never know when'll be my last Malam Raya with them. What if I settle down in two three years time and the tradition might change?

Its okay. Changes are good. If I learn to accept changes then I wouldn't have to change family. If you know why I mean.

Have a blissful Aidilfitri, everyone!
