I was definitely not properly dressed for football. When I arrived, my colleagues and editors were like "Aik! Kenapa tak pakai jersey?" I thought of wearing the Malaysian jersey. I have like 4 of them. However, I was supposed to cover an event in the morning that involves a PC. I can't be wearing a jersey to a PC, isn't it. So I decided to wear something that is comfortable enough for me to go for both events.
Unfortunately, the morning assignment got cancelled.
And of course, I don't have all the time in the world to go back home and change myself, even if I live 10 minutes away from work.
We left the newsroom at around 6:50pm to make sure we can score ourselves a good seat. The traffic was horrendous, we reached Shah Alam at about 7:50pm. We got in at around 8:30pm. I was preparing for the worst, they say it's going to be packed, and heaty, and it will be unpleasant for a girly girl like me.
WHAT GIRLY GIRL? Hello? Hakak kental ok.
Okay, so it was my first time covering sports. And also my first time stepping in the stadium as journalist. It was weird, though. I have watched football games before this, quite a number of times. But this time, I have my own table, my own power source, and of course, the best beasty view right under my nose. I could see everything and it was a picture perfect angle.
Yes Huda's part of the view. |
Me being me, a jakun peghak girl, was all excited. I know I'm a journalist and I shouldn't be bias, but I am still an individual and I will not be bias while reporting. And this is not reporting news ok it's not. I am a true Selangorian ok, I am! Hahah doh.. What is wrong with me.
Of course, I was a little disappointed because Selangor did not manage to go to the finals, but to be honest, I don't really speak football, so I guess we can always try again next year? Kan? Misi 33 can still be fulfilled!
After the match, we went down to the basement and did vox pop. The people are crazy. Especially the Kelantanse! They are so semangat it's fun to see them running around holding their flag. Well they ought to be happy because they won.
Ah-ha! |
The traffic home was equally bad. We arrived in the newsroom at around 12:30am. I started writing, Huda looked for the SOTs and we left at around 2am.
That, was by far, the longest, I've been, at work.
Dah la. Tiba tiba depressed. Bye.
