Fifty Six / Suicide Tube

Amanda Todd (1996-2012)
For those who doesn't know about Amanda Todd, she is 16 year old girl who posted a video about her life using cue cards, monochromed, on Youtube. The video was uploaded by her last September. In the video, she was telling everyone how she made mistakes and got depressed, blackmailed by a stranger.

You can watch the video HERE.

Weeks after that, she committed suicide.

Now, the thing that I don't understand is that, well, everyone are prone to make mistakes. It is just.. Natural. Unfortunately for Amanda, in her case, she was too young to know things. She decided to put an end to her life. She was only sixteen.

She was bullied in school, due to her mistakes and apparently those people from her past, they tracked her up and brought her down. Flashed to a stranger, slept with a taken man, trashed down the ditch by a group of teenagers. She drank bleach to end her life, an attempt that failed. What more do you want from a girl her age? Probably they are around her age too, so they have the same thinking, perhaps.

There are always two sides of a story. I found on the web about her being a whore and things like that. Apparently, she too was a bully in school. We will never know how far is the truth. But then again, things like this scares the living crap out of me. What have the technology done?

Okay no, we can't blame the technology. It develops itself every second and we cannot blame globalization from happening. It is how we use the technology, that's what matters most. I have a 12 year old sister, who owns a BlackBerry and has been attached to it ever since she got it. She sleeps with it too.

A friend of mine, her sister who is 7, yes, only 7, only communicate with her iPad and not the real people. Who are to blame in this? I don't want my sister or any technology user to become a victim of cyber bullying or things like that. Sometimes they just don't know that the people they talk to online are actually older than them. Wait, even I don't have the ability to know that.

It worries me. Committing suicide due to depression caused by cyber bullying and peer pressure.

An angel has gone up. How many more angels until this madness stops? Fly high, Amanda. May you rest in peace, and I hope those who contributed to your death will realize what they are doing is definitely not cool. Suicide should not occur at that very young age.

No. It shouldn't be there at all.

Come on people. Smile a little. Ask people, who ever they are, how they are doing. If  not then just smile. You might not know what they are going through. If only someone was there to talk to Amanda about it. She would've stayed.

I am definitely thankful with what I have now. Thank you, Allah, for all the blessings you have granted me with. A beautiful life. A big loving family. Comfortable place to live, with the best circle of friends. I cannot ask for me.

I am blessed.
